A Powerful Light Source – Revel Trail Hound Camping Light

The Revel Trail Hound Camping Light is a thirty-foot strand of high efficiency LEDs that has the ability to plug into any USB outlet or battery pack. The little LED bulbs are stung together using by a thin strand of wire and only weighs 1.6 ounces. There is a little control toggle by the usb plug that allows you to control the brightness and select your preferred mode. The camping light has eight different brightness levels, 350 lumens being the brightest, and six different modes: solid, fade, strobe, flash, and a flickering fire-like mode.  Revel offers the camping light in blue, green, orange, pink, red, teal, rainbow, multicolored, warm white which I prefer.

When coiled up the lights can be stashed almost anywhere, even a front pocket. The thin wire can be a little annoying to uncoil and recoil at times, and if you aren’t careful, it can get tangled easily. Despite this they have held up well for me. The camping lights are even IP65 rated to withstand rain and dust so if you want to leave your lights strung up at camp you can do so without a worry. One feature these lights don’t have is the ability to connect multiple strands together to increase the length of the light. So, if you wanted to have multiple strands of camping lights, you would have to have them powered form separate sources, or all converging from a single power source.

I have been carrying around this camping light for about two years with sporadic use, and have not had any wiring or shorting out issue. I like to keep a strand of light with my battery pack if I were to ever lose power or want more lighting an Air BnB. You can also through them in a mason jar for some quick DIY fairy-lights. They really takes up so little space I think it is worth throwing in a bag just to have incase they are needed. The best part is these, versatile, waterproof camping lights only cost $24.95!
