Protect Gear from the Elements – Exped Torrent 30

If you’re in search of a reliable, waterproof pack for your outdoor adventures, the $199 Exped Torrent 30 should be a strong contender. The standout feature of this bag is undoubtedly its imperviousness to water. And that’s why we’ve found that the Torrent is a versatile bag for a range of activities. Whether you’re spending a day at the beach, on a boat, hiking, or commuting through foul weather, this bag keeps your belongings dry and secure. It’s a great choice for those who demand protection from the elements. Some other key features of this bag are:

  • Roll Top Closure: An effective roll-top closure ensures a tight seal against water, further enhancing its waterproof capabilities.
  • Multiple Daisy Chains: Three daisy chains (one in the front and two on the sides) offer not only additional attachment points for gear but also an alternate closure method if desired.
  • Additional Strap for Extra Storage: An extra strap on the top, running from the back to the front daisy chain, provides an innovative solution for additional storage outside the main compartment.
  • Organizational Pockets: While few, the bag does incorporate practical pockets, including a keychain loop, a 9 x 7 drop-in pocket, and a zipper mesh pocket on top for added organization.
  • Removable Hip Belts: These add stability for heavier loads, although personal preferences may vary on whether to use them. I personally prefer having hip belts on all my bags to ensure they stay securely in place, but some may prefer to remove them.

While we love the Torrent, my opinion is that not all is perfect. The bag’s large main compartment makes organization a bit more challenging. While it provides ample space, the lack of dividers or sections can make finding smaller items a bit cumbersome. Despite this minor drawback, this pack’s versatility and thoughtful design make it a nice option for outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you’re heading to the beach, setting sail, hitting the trails, or braving the elements during your daily commute, this bag is up for the challenge.
