The Thule Chasm is an excellent option for travelers seeking a blend of durability, functionality, and style. With its innovative hybrid design and rugged construction, this duffle bag-style suitcase is poised to revolutionize your travel experience.
The Thule Chasm combines the best of both worlds: a hard shell base for enhanced protection and stability, paired with a soft upper closure for added flexibility and convenience. This approach ensures that your belongings stay safe and secure, whether you’re navigating crowded airports or rough terrain in a remote location. Designed to fit snugly in most overhead bins, the Thule Chasm is the ideal carry-on companion for jet-setters and frequent flyers. While it may not fit in a smaller overhead bin, its compact size makes it a breeze to maneuver through airports and onto planes without hassle.
We have found the Chasm to be quite durable, with some added features to ensure longevity. This bag offers protection from the elements with water-repellent coating, providing peace of mind on rainy days or when faced with unexpected weather conditions. The Chasm incorporates a 2-wheel design and while this may deter some travelers who prefer 4-wheel options, we find that the large, durable design of the 2 wheels make navigating rougher terrain quite easy. We feel confident knowing that this bag is built to last, with solid arms, wheels, and grab points that can handle the rigors of travel with ease.
The bag’s storage is equally as well thought-out, as you’ll find that the Chasm has multiple options, while keeping the design minimalistic. It features a small mesh pocket on the top of the bag for quick access to smaller items. Inside, you’ll find another pocket the size of the lid, perfect for storing flat clothing items or other essentials, making packing super efficient. The Chasm also includes sturdy exterior compression straps, allowing flexibility if not packed to capacity.
While we have had a very positive experience thus far with the Chasm, there are a couple of minor drawbacks. First, price. At $349.95, the Chasm is of the more expensive carry-on sized luggage options. However, this price does reflect the strong quality and durability of the product. Second, there are limited color choices. As of now, Thule only offers this bag in black, olive green, and gray.
Overall, with this suitcase’s thoughtful design, weatherproof construction, and storage solutions, we think it’s a great companion for any adventure, whether you’re jetting off on a weekend getaway or embarking on a cross-country journey.
